A Letter from Matthew & Beth
Hello from Ohio!
We are a happy couple who love to look for the good in all situations. We are so excited to become parents and are open to adopting a boy or girl of any racial background. We come from a supportive family, and truly just love time together, whether we’re at home with our pets, doing housework, taking vacations, or growing our faith. It would be great to get to know you, or even meet in person, and to learn the hopes you have for your baby. Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents!
We met the old-fashioned way: online! On our first-date, at a hot-dog shop, we quickly realized that we both could laugh in any situation when Beth’s dog took a bit out of Matthew’s sandwich. Looking for the fun in things has been a running theme of our relationship ever since. Spending time together is important to us whether that is during our nightly dinners, doing yard work, or taking trips. We are both big sports fans and can be found watching anything from soccer to hockey to football on the weekends.
Together we share a strong, active Christian faith. Our faith was the main reason we felt the calling to adopt. We knew we wanted to have a family, and after going through infertility, we both realized that adoption was on our hearts. We are excited to become first-time parents and grow our family through adoption!
Beth has a way of making everything happy and fun, and I know she will always lead our family on the correct path. Beth likes learning how to do all sorts of new things, and especially enjoys cooking and home improvement. She tries different recipes for our dinners each day, and has even redone all of the floors in our house!
My wife is strong, smart, and independent, always trying her best, and is also kind and humble. She works as a nurse manager; caring for others comes naturally to Beth. I am excited to watch Beth share her skills, and loving heart, with our child.
Matthew is my best friend. From encouraging members of our church to cutting the grass, he puts everything he has into all he does. Matthew is very responsible, and totally enjoys life. He has this way of bringing light to any situation, and I love his silly, fun spirit. I love how he makes up random songs, out of nowhere, and he’s famous around here for his corny dad jokes.
As funny as he can be, Matthew is also so kind and thoughtful, truly one of the most genuine people I know. Matthew loves books and will spend hours reading all kinds of things, from spirituality and history to Harry Potter. He also enjoys his daily morning walks. I know Matthew will be an active, involved father. He’s so excited to become a dad!
We live in the suburb of a big city in Ohio, which gives us the quiet of a small town and the ability to easily go downtown for sporting events, museums, or the zoo. Our home is two stories and has three bedrooms. We have a fenced-in backyard and a large grassy space across the street. Our neighborhood is new and very family friendly.
At home we have one dog, Chewy, and two cats, Sally and Scooter, who are all very people friendly. We enjoy taking care of our home together, and have had the best time preparing a sweet nursery room for our future baby.
We are very close to our families, most of whom live within a couple hours of us in Ohio. Matthew also has family in Virginia. Whether they live near or far, we keep up with our loved ones regularly and look forward to seeing each other multiple times every year. Staying in touch with people we care about is important to us.
Each of our families have their own traditions that we are excited to pass on, like Christmas Eve at Beth’s parents’ house, when we stay in our sweats and listen to Christmas music all day. With Matthew’s family, we love turkey, homemade cranberry sauce, and football on Thanksgiving We are also excited to start our own traditions for the holidays, like hot chocolate around our fireplace on Christmas morning, opening gifts as a family of three. Our loved ones are all excited about and supportive over our plans to adopt, and look forward to welcoming a new child to the family.
We promise to love your child unconditionally, with everything we have. We will make sure he or she grows up knowing the value of a Christian faith, good education, and hard work. We promise to guide him or her with a balance of truth and grace, helping this child to become a thoughtful person, who will always know we’re here for them. As parents we will encourage him or her to reach for goals and to have a heart for others.
You will always be special to our family. If you’re comfortable, we would love to share updates with you after the adoption, including pictures, letters, and visits. We’d be honored to speak with you, and to learn more about you, or to answer any questions.
Very thoughtfully, Matthew & Beth
